Website Speed is Critical
Users don't wait, they leave

Improve Your Site Conversions

Happy users convert. Frustrated users leave.

I specialize in moving the metrics that matter:

  • Get your site into your user's browser faster,
  • Get your most important content seen sooner,
  • Make your site stable, and
  • Make your site respond to user actions faster.

Regardless of what tech your site uses, I can help.

I cannot guarantee that improving performance will help your sales, but I can guarantee that bad performance is hurting your sales.

Why is Web Performance Important?

Web performance affects your users' confidence in you.

Web performance is all about how fast and smoothly your website loads and responds to user interactions.

It's simple: we all want things to "just work right", and right now.

You may hear people refer to Core Web Vitals (CWV), Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Lighthouse scores.

These are all ways to measure how your users feel when they use your website.

If your site feels like it loads quickly, stably and responds quickly, your users will have more confidence in your site, and will engage with it more.

If not, they will leave your site for a competitor.

How do I know if my site has performance issues?

You might think you know what your users experience on your website, but do you really know?

The only way to know for sure is to measure.

Different devices, browsers, connection speeds and geographic locations can all affect a user's experience.

I can setup tools that measure your real users' experiences, documenting exactly how fast your site loads for them, how stably it loads for them, how fast it reacts for them, and more.

This data will tell definitively whether or not any of your users are having issues.

What if my site has performance issues?

If your site has performance issues, I can diagnose and help fix them, by either providing suggestions to your team, or making the changes for you.

I typically start by setting up the tools I described above (if you don't already have them); this will highlight any large issues your site has.

While that is collecting data, we can discuss any problems you already know about; maybe your users have complained about something?

Once we know if there are problems, and what they are, we can create a plan to fix them.

This might include me fixing things, or me sharing my findings with your team, and could even include educational sessions with your team, where we discuss how to fix the current issues and avoid future issues.

Performance is the result of all design and implementation details.

But this isn't about placing blame, it's about finding solutions!

We all move too quickly these days, and getting every little thing exactly perfect isn't easy.

That's why specialists exist.

Like me. 😊

Why should I trust you?

I have spent my career at the intersection of code and speed, building websites, focused on performance first.

My work has spanned a wide range of organizations, from nonprofits and boutique agencies to multinational conglomerates like Bank of America and Estée Lauder, and everything in between.

I would love to help you, too.

I don't give you a list of 100 tiny tweaks. I identify the 'Big Bits', the 2 or 3 issues causing 80% of your issues.

I analyze real data from your website, no guessing, just cold, hard numbers on what your users are actually experiencing.

Then I dig in, find the problems, and provide the fixes, whether that's writing the vanilla JS/PHP myself or guiding your team through the implementation.

How would this work?

I like to start with a free 30-60 minute "discovery" call where we get to know one another, you introduce me to your site, your audience, and we determine what's most important for you and them.

Once we agree on exactly what the project is, I will conduct an audit (it can be comprehensive, or it can focus on just one or two things, depending on your needs).

The audit includes reviewing your real user monitoring data (I can add this to your site if you don't already have it). Using this data, I look for patterns that might indicate issues.

The audit also involves examining your website's code, looking for best practice issues or code irregularities, anything that might harm your website's performance.

Once the audit is complete, we can proceed in a number of ways:

It really depends on what works best for you.

How much would this cost?

I have seen places that quote full prices up-front, but, while I love that transparency, no two projects are exactly the same, so I don't like to quote exactly the same.

I want to make sure that we focus on what is most important to you, and that you only pay for what you need.

So, again, the discovery call is free.

Once we agree on the scope and size of the project, I provide a flat fee for conducting the audit and delivering my findings.

Once that is done, if you would like my help in implementing the fixes I propose, whether you prefer I create bug tickets or fix the issues myself, whether you prefer we attack everything at once or work on a weekly or monthly budget, I charge $120 per hour.

Have any questions? Care to chat?

I'm happy to take any questions, perform project work, or consider a full-time gig.

You can even just say hi, if you like.
