Mobile app developers (and wannabes), listen up!
If you already are a mobile app developer, you probably specialize on a single platform, be it the iPhone, BlackBerry, or other, because they all require that you use a different language to build your app.
If you are not a mobile app developer, it is probably because you don’t have the time to learn the new language required by your fave phone just to be able to build that app that’s been knocking around in your head.
Well, I have some good news: PhoneGap is here! Straight from the source:
“PhoneGap is an open source development tool for building fast, easy mobile apps with JavaScript.
If you’re a web developer who wants to build mobile applications in HTML and JavaScript while still taking advantage of the core features in the iPhone, Android and Blackberry SDKs, PhoneGap is for you.”

Geo Location | yes | yes | yes |

Contact Support | yes | pending | yes |
That’s pretty sweet already, right? Well, now PhoneGap has announced support for the Palm Pre as well, including support for “geolocation, accelerometer, notification, orientation, sms, telephony, network, file (read only), and a limited selection of device properties”. Unfortunately, they’re not able to connect to the Contact info yet, but based on how fast they’ve been moving on this, I would expect that soon.
All-in-all, very exciting news for any mobile app developer (or the rest of us wannabes!).
Happy developing,
