Quiet Car, I Think I Love You

On Amtrak‘s Acela, bound for Boston, and could not be enjoying myself more…

Yes, the wi-fi is horrifically slow (although my connection says I 100% of 54Mbps), but at least the car has wi-fi, the seats care comfy, with drop-down tables for my laptop and a foot-rest, the bar-car was open the second we pulled away from the platform, and the coolest: when you walk between cars, the doors slide open by themselves, just like in Star Trek… yeah… Of course, it doesn’t have the awesome sound effect, but still…

If we had more trains like this, why wouldn’t you take it, especially for semi-short hops? The price of this ticket was comparable to an airline ticket, I didn’t have to take my shoes off to get on it, the total travel time, including how early you have to get to the airport is actually less, and I am SO much more comfortable…

Way to go, Amtrak, get more lines like this and both your profits and our country’s fuel consumption could be on the right… track… :-)

Sorry couldn’t resist…

Happy traveling,
Atg
