What is JPEG XL and do we really need another image format?

I was recently offered a chance to write a guest post for the DebugBear blog!

While chatting with one day, I mentioned that I was looking for things to do between gigs, and he suggested maybe I could write a guest post about the (relatively) new JPEG XL (JXL) image format.

I was aware of the new format, but had not really been tracking it, so it sounded like it could be a good learning experience for me, and possibly an interesting topic for others.

So I took him up on the offer!

Matt is a really great guy, good to work with, and has certainly created a fantastic monitoring platform! If you haven’t taken a look, I would highly recommend giving it a try! He seems to add amazing new features every week or so!

Anyhow, hope you enjoy the article, please let us know what you think about this new image format, and whether you see yourself using or recommending it!

Happy JXLing,
Atg
